Hilo

Hilo, is the largest city on the Big Island of Hawai’i with an estimated population of 40,000 people. The town center overlooks Hilo Bay, situated between two shield volcanoes; Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano, and Mauna Loa, the worlds largest active volcano.

The majority of people in Hilo stretch from Hilo Bay to Waiākea-Uka, on the hilsside of Mauna Loa.

The Hilo breakwater, makes Hilo the largest deep water port on the Big Island, allowing large shipping vessels to bring in supplies.

The city has several beach parks and recreation areas for families to enjoy on the weekend.

The city also has major department stores such as Target and Wal-mart.
