Keauhou Bay

Keauhou Bay preserved and maintained by the Daughters of Hawaii to mark the site of the birthplace of King Kamehameha III in 1814, the second son of Kamehameha I and Keopuolani.

The name comes from ke au hou which means “the new era” in the Hawaiian Language. Today the bay is used by charter boats associated with the Sheraton Hotel franchise.

The bay is often sunny year round with calm waters in the bay, making it ideal for snorkeling and kayaking on calm water days. The area is also famous for it’s Manta Ray population, who come out at night to feed on the plankton in and around the area.
