Located on Maui’s West side on your way to Lahaina, is Launipoko Beach Park—a favorite beach for locals and tourists to relax and spend a day. This 6.7 acre beachfront park is a popular surf spot where waves break year-round, even in the summer time!
Along with surfing, there are also Stand Up Paddlers, kayakers, and boogie boarders to watch during your visit to Launipoko Beach Park. The fine, golden sand provides a gentle place to lay out your beach mat and work on your tan while you watch the surfers shred it up in the ocean. The waves are consistent here making a great place for beginners to gain their water footing and also for surfing classes to hold lessons.
There is free parking here but it does fill up rather fast—there is 40 stalls fronting the beach and an additional 50 across the street. Other amenities here include restrooms, showers, grills, and over sixteen tables for outdoor picnics. Along with being known for its surf, Launipoko Beach Park is also known for its views.
Off the shore, you can see the island of Lana`i which is only eight miles off shore from the beach. Many gather here for sunrise yoga and also for the spectacular sunsets. Launipoko Beach Park is located right off of Lower Honoapi`ilani Highway, or route 30.
