Pipiwai trail

Pipiwai trail is located in the Kipahulu area of the Haleakala National Parks System and is probably the most well maintained hiking trail in Hawaii. The hike, which is located in southeast Maui leads up to the Makahiku Falls and Waimoku Falls.

The 1.8 mile trail unfolds alongside a string of pools amidst the forest, if you want to linger in the forest, you could spend up to 4 hours on this trail exploring the forest trail and still find a reason to keep going. The trail goes around the Ohe’o Gulch Stream; notable locations passed include the bamboo forest and giant banyan tree.

It is important to note that is does take a considerable amount of time to arrive at this location from the other side of the island as the road to Hana does take time to transit. If you decide to stay over night in Hana this will not be an issue.
