Whittington Beach Park is located on the south side of the Big Island of Hawaii in the Ka’ū District just past the 60 mile marker on Highway 11.
Camping at Whittington Beach Park offers incredible ocean views and great fishing, snorkeling, and diving spots for both locations on site.
As you are coming down the grade you will also see the abandoned wharf, marking the park.
The park is open 24 hours a day, year round. There is no cost to visit the park.
However there is a warning about camping at this location, citing unfriendly encounters with locals who have been coming to this destination for many generations and do not take too kindly to foreigners.
Unless you are camping in a large group or friends with some of the locals this destination would be best, to briefly check out and take in the beauty before moving onto the next site.
